His eye is on the sparrow
have you ever read that book eat, pray, love? i’m thinking specifically of the part where the author is at an indian ashram and she has this transcendental experience. anyway, it doesn’t matter if you’ve read it or not. i’ve just been having some really great yoga classes lately and thought i’d share that.
don’t get me wrong, at the studio where i practice there are some definite kooks. you know? yogis that are just way. to… entrenched. too far into it. you know what i mean. however, there are a few teachers that lead great classes and over the past two weeks i’ve had a few really awesome meditation sessions. not to get too hardcore or anything, but i do feel closer to my true self and to God during and after being in these short meditative states. i’ve heard people say this but i hadn’t truly experienced it until recently. i really do feel lighter at the end of it all. in fact, lately (unconsciously at first) i picture a little bird lifting all my heaviness away, and it works for me. i don’t really know why it’s taken 4 years for me to get to this point but i’m glad i’m there and i’m glad that it took so long because now i feel like i earned it and it’s a little sweeter that way. or maybe all of this enlightenment is just because i’m so pushed (read: stressed) lately that the meditation part of my yoga classes is becoming more important for my well being, whereas before i was more focused on the asanas (poses) to gain physical strength, balance and flexibility.
geez, listen to me. i guess it’s just that i’ve had some really peaceful and ethereal moments lately and wanted to document that for future reference. i think i may need these memories during the next few weeks when things start getting really nuts…
okay then – until next time.
ps – the picture is from deviantart.com, an awesome website with original pieces of art for sale. you can find the above picture here. i’ve spent hours on this site before – it’s easy to do – i’d totally recommend it if you’re looking for something unique for your house/apartment/room/office :)
